In the fall of 2023, Kehilat Shirat David will launch a unique Institute that will play a critical role in the Efrat community and throughout Eretz Yisrael for years to come.
The Machon has two primary goals:
Training Future Leaders for the Growing Anglo Community in Israel
As our Anglo community in Israel grows, it is critically important to train young leaders uniquely suited to leading and inspiring our communities.
Machon Zimrat Ha’aretz will train the next generation of rabbinic leadership in Penimiyus Hatorah, the “Inner Torah” that will revitalize Am Yisrael and advance the final redemption – here, in Eretz Yisrael.
In the diaspora there is a strong communal mindset – something people are yearning for here in Eretz Yisrael. But Am Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael does not simply need community, it needs communities that are permeated with the spirit of Eretz Yisrael.
Rav Kook, echoing the words of the Nevi’im, foresaw that the return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel will engender a general spiritual revival. A Jew in the Land of Israel during the process of national rebirth should experience his Judaism differently than a Jew living in the diaspora.
The same holds true for communities. A kehilah in Eretz Yisrael should generate a palpable sense of togetherness with Hashem and with other people in a way that transcends what can be experienced in the diaspora. Thus, it is crucial that the kehilot of Eretz Yisrael should be growth-oriented, inspired and filled with people working together to serve Hashem. To build communities like these, we need leaders who are steeped in the spiritual ideas and experiences of Penimiyus Hatorah and have the self confidence they need to lead our people.
This is the Avodas Hashem of Eretz Yisrael, the Avodah we have yearned for, for 2,000 years!
Strengthening the Zayit and the Broader Efrat Community
The Zayit is one of Efrat’s fastest growing and most dynamic communities, with over one thousand families, a meaningful percentage of whom are olim. Kehilat Shirat David, a growing community of over 160 families at the center of the Zayit neighborhood, has created an extraordinary avira permeated with a love for learning, Shabbos and Simcha.
By establishing this program in the Zayit neighborhood, we will further strengthen Kehilat Shirat David, the Zayit neighborhood and the broader Efrat community through a range of impactful programs and learning opportunities. Members of the Institute will develop relationships and learn Torah with members of the community while taking part in and leading activities of all kinds.
